Shekinah Promotion at Midlands Mall

Every month a charity or NPO, chosen by the management of Midlands Mall Shopping Centre in Pietermaritzburg, has opportunity for a three-day promotion.

This is in the form of a table at the end of the Mall in the centre of the walkway near the entrance to Pick & Pay. Shekinah Care Centre was nominated for the Month of December 2009.

Although the table had to be manned from opening at 09h00 right through to 20h00 in the evening, making for very long shifts, the report back from the staff and volunteers that manned the "station" was encouraging and positive. Shaun and Jill took responsibility for this marketing promotion and were ably assisted by James from the Centre and Jean Snell from the Administrative Board, who shared duty with them.

Besides being physically present to be able to speak to individuals who showed an interest, brochures were distributed, and a power point presentation continued non-stop on a rolling basis that was informative in presenting much of the problem of substance abuse. The presentation portrayed Shekinah Care Centre as being a means of combating and overcoming the problems of addiction.

It is trusted that his will become an annual means of local and effective marketing of the Care Centre.
